rauchenwald@optusnet.com.au,
waltdesign.com.au

The unique and eye-catching ‘Nancy Drawers’ chest was created using the innovative process of applying an art print onto linen canvas, sealed with high-gloss Estapol lacquer, and lastly applied onto a structured laminate. The photographs that feature on the ‘Nancy Drawers’ were taken specifically for the furniture piece yet can also be customised to suit individual clients needs.

Nests - Series one

Designer: Shannon Garson
shannongarson@yahoo.com,
shannongarson.com

The delicate ‘Nests - Series one’
vessels are pared back porcelain
bowls with a matte surface. This
surface is etched with drawings of
twigs and sticks to form a series of
tactile ‘birds nests’. Shannon Garson most envisages the nests to be used for ‘dreaming of life’ in the country over a cup of tea! The ‘Nests - Series one’ can be displayed as a group ranging from tiny bowls through to larger forms – symbolising different sized nests, from fairy wrens to magpie nests.

Pinch Vessel

Designer: Marc Harrison
(61 7) 3844 2928, 0439 442 928
info@husque.com, husque.com

Made from recycled Australian
Macadamia nutshell the ‘Pinch
Vessel’, a unique creation from
Marc Harrison, brings together
the principles of recycling and the
ingenuity of Australian design. The
highly polished and gleaming interior of each vessel is characteristic in all of Husque’s pieces and provides a durable polished interior, offset by the natural finish of the dark exterior. Harrison treats design as an opportunity to create an object,
embodying form and functionality,
and the ‘Pinch Vessel’ is the perfect example.

Plantation Chair

Designer: Alexander Lotersztain
0404 682 139
info@derlot.com, derlot.com

The ‘Plantation Chair’ was made
around the philosophy of creating
a design that aims to inspire and
also brings positive change in
diverse ways – from environmental
sustainability to functionality.
Lotersztain has a background
in industrial design and believes
that good design comes from the
balance and understanding of both
the purpose, aim and end result
of a design. The ‘Plantation Chair’
was designed to fulfill market place
expectations, making it a competitive Australian-made product.

'Please don't sit on me' Stool

Designer: Walter Rauchenwald
(61 7) 3314 2316, 0409 764 666
rauchenwald@optusnet.com.au,

The quirky and playful ‘Please Don’t Sit on Me’ stool is a lightweight and functional piece of furniture with humorous faces and gestures covering each stool. Made from bendable plywood, each stool is literally rolled together and has an interlocking mechanism. The concept for the stool was developed from the idea that almost any piece of furniture, whether a chair, sofa or a bed, is ultimately in touch with our bodies. The ‘Please Don’t Sit on Me’ stool can be customised to meet individual preferences with the use of personal and family photos.

Plonk

Designer: Paul Morris
(61 7) 5448 1844, 0418 505 126
paul@join.au.com, join.au.com

The multi-functional and durable
design of ‘Plonk’ is ideal for both
indoor and outdoor use, is recyclable and embodies timeless design. markheslopdesigns@hotmail.com

Inspired by a lifestyle change after
his move to Coolum Beach in Queensland, designer MarkHeslop
has designed ‘Ryan Bedside Table’, which was named after his son. With a substantial amount of time now dedicated to reading in his new environment, Heslop’s ‘Ryan’, is a place to rest a magazine or a book and can be used in many environments such as residential, cafes or libraries. The piece is made from interior plywood that is laminated together in red but the design can be customised in different colourways to suit different environments.

Scoot

Designer: Brian Steendyk
0404 094 001,
contact@steendyk.com

The sculptural design of ‘Scoot’
draws inspiration from the iconic

movement and fluidity. The versatile and highly striking forms can be easily stacked and transported to different locations, resulting in a product that is both user-friendly and easily stored. The ‘Scoot’ was prototyped using injection moulded plastic.

Softscape

Designer: Nicole
Voevodin-Cash

(61 7) 5476 9325, 0415 497 699
annic.consultants@bigpond.com

Designer Nicole Voevodin-Cash has investigated the idea of the interplay between space, object, furniture, habitat, the user and the environment in many of her designs, and the ‘Softscape’ is no exception. The ‘Softscape’ is a unique inflatable and mobile private Zen environment. Ideally, the ‘Softscape’ inflatable ‘space could be inserted into corporate environments to create a private zone for workers to escape to.

System Sixty Nine

Designer: Bjorn Rust
(61 7) 3289 1117, 0404 002 710
bjorn@internode.on.net,
bjornrust.com

For designer Björn Rust, design
is built on a foundation of ideas rather than changing fashion. His design, the ‘System Sixty Nine’ is a multifunctional and modular furnishing system designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. The product is made
from ARPRO EPP, which is an expanded polypropylene, using no residual blowing agent that can be burnt at the end of life to only CO2 and water. The lightweight and durable design encourages the user to reconfigure and adapt the ‘System Sixty Nine’ to suit different preferences.

Vol_Luminous

Designer: Peter Biddulph
(61 7) 5497 8551, 0434 531 011
info@ceramicdesign.org,
ceramicdesign.org

Resembling a futuristic spaceage
cityscape or exotic forest, the
pieces that make up vol_Luminous’ are finished with an original range of satin matte glazes. Inspired by modern architectural forms and organic shapes, ‘vol_Luminous' is truly unique. Each piece is made up of a series of fibre optic cables illuminated with LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) creating either static or dynamic patterns of light moving across part of the surface of the work. The delicate glowing illuminated patterns appear differently during the day and at night.
